The movie Tum mile did not recover its budget and entered the list of 2009 flops. The next victim was Saif Kareena starrer Kurbaan, this movie despite of good reviews, good banners and popular actors got very bad response from audience, while movie 2012 in still running houseful. The movie Kurbaan has earned nearly Rs 20 crores till now and will not cross Rs 30 crore earnings, a flat Rs 20 crore loss for Dharma productions. Where as the Hollywood flick 2012 has earned nearly Rs 40 crores including English, Hindi, Telugu and Tamil versions and still going strong. The latest Bollywood release De dana dan has also effected slightly, but De dana dan is going good compared to other Bollywood movies.

Arya 2 is no patch on Arya which was a huge success. Sukumar seems to have tried a so-called different storyline which is perplexing. It's only the first half of the film which makes for interesting viewing, otherwise the film is the usual routine stuff interspersed with some good dances and slick technical work.

IndiaGlitz - 2.75/5
the film has too many flaws in the first half. Brahmanadam's (as Dasavatharam) comedy track is boring. In fact, at many points the film seems ridiculous. Thankfully, everything is undone by the second 80 minutes, which you will want to watch again and again.

The technical and production values are amazing but the content and writing part has been a disappointment. The film might appeal a little to the urban audience but nothing for the masses.

The plus points of the movie are creative scenes, Allu Arjun, songs (dances) and technical values. On the flipside, psychotic orientation and confusion in hero’s characterization doesn’t get audiences involved in the movie intently. The runtime of the movie is also high. On a whole, Arya 2 is a different film that can appeal to A centers and class crowds.

The film turns out to be rather complicated in terms of content and the message it is trying to convey. While the first half seems to be quite mild, it is just before the interval things begin to pick up pace. The second half has got twists in the tale but it is not until the end of the film that the entire confusion is revealed. By that time, the interest in the plot is let off by the audience. The technical and production values are amazing but the content and writing part has been a disappointment. The film might appeal a little to the urban audience but nothing for the masses.

Telugucinema - 2.75/5
Arya -2 is disappointment in every other way. Director Sukumar fails both as writer and director as his plotline is confusing and his hero’s characterization is negative. The film’s hero, Allu Arjun, acts like a psycho and his obsessive love and admiration towards heroine Kajal and his friend Navadeep evoke many suspicions. Although it starts off well, second half, especially towards the climax, is contrived.

It would be harsh to run it down by drawing unnecessary comparisons with classic comedies. De Dana Dan has tremendous entertainment value. Given the style of most Bollywood comedies - De Dana Dan is the funniest film of the season.

Too many characters in the second half, too long drawn a climax (and completely over the top too), too little of Akshay and Katrina, the hit jodi of many a blockbuster: De Dana Dan delivers in bits and pieces alone. . Also disappointing is Pritam's audio track, coming after a spate of successes this year. No, this one's not quite the end-of-the-year laugh riot.
